About the Artist
For over thirty years Alan Greenberg has worked on two bodies of work simultaneously; large scale installations and studio “object” pieces, all of which use a variety of materials and techniques. His studio work consists of sculpture and oil paintings on wood panels. The installations are all site-specific. They dialogue with and react to the specific proportions, usage, and history of the sites. The installations are often comprised of both fabricated elements made from wood or fabric and found objects that are natural or manmade. Greenberg uses these elements as symbols of self, nature and spirituality. He often uses balance, both real and implied, as a metaphor for opposing aspects of the human condition.
